Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the Darden College of Education Department of Human Movement Sciences (HMS). The department is dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. We advocate a healthy lifestyle that includes human movement as an essential component of the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of all humans across the life span. We seek to expand our understanding of the effects of health and human movement on the quality of human life. Therefore, we prepare professionals in the following disciplines dedicated to the promotion of health and human movement: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, Recreation and Tourism Studies, and Sports Management.
Our department offers undergraduate degrees in Physical Education with concentration areas in exercise science, health and physical education teacher preparation and sport management. We also offer an undergraduate degree in Recreation and Tourism Studies. At the graduate level we offer an M.S.
