The Higher Education program offers professional graduate degrees for careers in advanced leadership positions in colleges, universities, non-profit organizations, or educational associations. Students create personalized curricular plans that prepare them for growing fields in higher education:


M.S.Ed. »

Ed.S. »

Ph.D. »

M.S.Ed. students take core courses then specialize in one of three tracks: international education; leadership & administration; or student affairs. Ed.S. students develop a personalized plan of study based on their professional background and interests. Ph.D. students take core courses then tailor cognate courses to meet academic and professional goals in specialized areas including: leadership; international education; athletics administration; and student affairs.
M.S.Ed. or Ed.S. applicants may apply to enroll starting fall or spring. Ph.D. cohorts start each summer.

Classes are scheduled from 4:20-7:00 p.m. or 7:10-9:50 p.m. to accommodate the schedules of working professionals.

Each spring all students have an opportunity to participate in a 10-day study abroad experience over spring break. Students in the HIED 744/844 Comparative Higher Education Systems examine current developments in higher education systems internationally, including:

Spain & Portugal - Next Spring 2016

Graduate Assistantships (GAs) »

Full-time students are financially supported by graduate assistantships (GAs). All M.S.Ed. applicants will be considered for graduate assistantships.

Full-time Ph.D. students, both U.S. and international, will be considered for GAs assisting faculty with their research, teaching, and service responsibilities.
