History of the Summer Institute
For over twenty-five years, the TWP Summer Institute (SI) has been training teachers each summer to be Teacher Consultants. At the Institute, teachers examine issues in the teaching of writing, present and demonstrate approaches to the teaching of writing, study current and past research in the field, and write in various modes and from different points of view, including a position paper on the teaching of writing.
The TWP holds its Summer Institute at Old Dominion University in the Education building.
The SI runs for one month in the summer, and Fellows attend from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
Fellows earn six graduate credits in Education.
$1,824.00 (the cost of six hours of graduate tuition at Old Dominion University). Please seek tuition assistance from schools and/or school districts. Fellows receive a stipend ($500) in the fall after completion of the institute.
